Ontogeny biography
Founded in 2002 by guitarist/bassist Nathaniel VENNARUCCI, ONTOGENY is a progressive death metal band based out of San Francisco. Musically furious and intense, their output is extremely technical yet draped with a suffocating atmosphere. There's also jazz-based passages that do not detract from the frantic and dark aura created by the band.

After some demo releases, the first full length album, ''Pillars of Perversion'', was released in 2007. 2010 saw the recruitment of drummer Keith GRIMSHAW, bassist Sam ZUERNER and Chazz MCCONNELL on vocals. Now with a full lineup, ONTOGENY released ''Discord and Disillusion'' in 2011. After touring for that album, Chazz was replaced on vocals by Tim HALO, who is also the vocalist for one of Nate's other groups, technical death metal outfit ANOMOLOUS. In 2015, ONTOGENY released ''Hymns of Ahriman'', their most progressive sounding album to date. Fans of acts such as ANOMOLOUS, OBSCURA and MESHUGGAH may find lots to enjoy here.
