Ocean biography
Norwegian band OCEAN was formed in 1991, the choice of name inspired by Eloy's classic 1977 production, by Öivind Albrethsen (guitars), Knut Brevig (keyboards), Knud Jarle Strand (bass) and Daniel Solheim (vocals, guitar). The position of a permanent drummer proved to be difficult for the band however, and at some point even a not too high quality drum machine was used. In 1994 the band convinced Ketil Berg to fill the vacant position however, and matters developed fairly quickly for the band after that. An important gig were landed in Oslo in November 1994, and tracks were submitted for two compilation albums: City of Hate for a compilation released in 1995 and Saviour of the Night for another compilation that was released in 1996.

Come 1997 and Ocean decided it was high time to record and release some material themselves. They hit the studio in March that year, and some months later their debut EP Newborn Ground was self released by Ocean.

This proved to be the only material released by the band however, and in 1999 Ocean called it quits. Ketil, Daniel and Knud would continue creating music together however, and they became the nucleus of Norwegian band Nordagust that was formed later in 1999.
