Jean-Philippe Rykiel biography
Jean-Philippe RYKIEL is a French musician and arranger, most noted for his skill with keyboards. The son of fashion designer Sonia RYKIEL, he has been blind since his birth in 1961, and was seen as a prodigy from an early age. He came to wider prominence in the Seventies when he performed with TIM BLAKE in CRYSTAL MACHINE.
Published on the Musea label in the year 2012 , Inner Spaces includes various tracks recorded or re-recorded throughout his career. Jean-Philippe RYKIEL said: I wanted to share these memories of happy and carefree time of compositions temporarily set aside as too different to be together on the same album, and they have accumulated over many years. I realized that the diversity is just like me, so why not show me as I am, multiple and open to all kinds of music from Progressive rock, funk , African rhythms with French melodies , jazz Tibetan mantras , I fed everyone and everything inspires me ... . The highlight of this work is ''CLOSE TO YOU'', sung by Jon ANDERSON with whom he first built a relationship with during the recording of 'FRIENDS OF MR. CAIRO' all those years ago.
