Boxhead Ensemble biography
BOXHEAD ENSEMBLE was originally founded in Los Angeles by singer/composer Michael Krassner to make music for independent films in 1991. He worked with an ever changing line-up of musicians including members of the American post-rock groups TORTOISE and GASTR DEL SOL as well as JIM O'ROUKE who is no stranger to American post-rock. The first few releases were film soundtracks and live recordings from tours of those soundtracks. Later they made purely studio-based music. Their sound ranges from ambient, classical, folk and jazz to noisy Krautrock.
