SOUND&SHAPE is a heavy progressive rock band formed in July 2005 in Nashville, Tennessee by guitarist and vocalist Ryan CAUDLE and bassist David C. SOMERALL with the eventual addition of drummer Allen JONES. The band is the self-proclaimed head of the crusade to reinstate the dominance of rock in music. They have a hyperactive tour schedule, playing well over 400 shows in just three years, which, understandably, forced SOUND&SHAPE onto the radar of not only Nashville but American rock. A year after the band's formation, their debut album Where Machines End Their Lives in January. Even with their impressive tour schedule, the band managed to release their second release and first EP, The Love Electric, in January 2009. The band returned in May 2011 with their second EP, Now Comes the Mystery.
With a style akin to Texan experimental rockers THE MARS VOLTA, the band's music can best be described as the combination of standard rock sensibilities, the energy of punk rock, Latin fusion instrumental flavor, and progressive rock flair. SOUND&SHAPE will appeal to fans of modern progressive rock bands such as THE MARS VOTLA, THE FALL OF TROY, and DREDG. They released the EP "Hourglass" in 2012 with producer Casey Wood and Matthew McCauley that push the band even further with their latest release "Bad Actors" where the band show their influences from the classic bands of the 60's and 70's while creating some new modern sounds.
