Katabasis biography
KATABASIS is an atmospheric metal band from Central Coast, New South Wales, Australia. They were formed by David BUTLER (guitar, mellotron) and Shane WALL (vocals, guitar) some time in 2003-2004. Neil MCNAUGHTON (bass) and Andrew CRAIG (drums) complete the current line-up, which was completed after a long period of reduced activity. The band combines different elements from primarily metal music and focuses on the emotional part and the authenticity of their sound rather than pushing their musical boundaries. KATABASIS released their self-titled debut, consisting of 4 long compositions, in the summer of 2011 and started an extensive tour afterwards in order to promote it. Similarities to OPETH are obvious, but so are the many different music elements that should alert a prog-metal fan to their debut.
