God of Shamisen biography
GOD OF SHAMISEN is an experimental rock band from California formed in 2004. The band fuses elements of funk, metal, progressive rock, and east Asian music into a highly innovative and refreshing sound. As the band puts it, they are merging the cultures of east and west...to battle conventional music. The band is made up of Tsugaru Shamisen master Kevin KMETZ, drummer Lee SMITH, guitarist Karl SCHAITTER, and bassist Mark THORNTON. The band has received generally positive reviews from critics and have released two albums: Dragon String Attack in 2008, and Smoke Monster in 2010.
