Herod Layne biography
HEROD LAYNE is a new Brazilian post-rock band consisting of Sachalf (guitars), Elson (bass), Lippaus (guitars) and Johnny (drums). In 2007 the band took part in David GILMOUR's Arnold Layne worldwide online contest, their version being ranked among the top ten best versions for Syd BARRETT's 1967 song. The year 2008 saw the release of the 'In Between Dust Conditions' album and 'Walking The Valley' EP by net label Sinewave. In 2009 the band released the new EP 'Sealand Fire', and made a small tour in Canada, playing at the Canadian Music Week festival. The tour was followed by the documentary Je Me Souviens..., directed by guitarist Sachalf. The band also played at various festivals in Brazil throughout the year ? Festival Calango in Cuiabá, the two Sinewave Festivals in São Paulo, and Festival Currently, the band is busy playing local festivals and working for a new album due for release in late 2011.

The music of HEROD LAYNE is a guitar-based post-rock, boosted with a more aggressive rhythm section and plenty of distorsion, giving a rawer, grungy or stoner sound. Acoustic piano or guitar interludes, epic space rock moments, noise explorations and punk breaks come to give eclecticism to the music, moving it further from the typical post-rock. The bands self-confessed influences are MOGWAI, GY!BE, MONO, SLINT, SONIC YOUTH and PINK FLOYD, which also give a good image of what HEROD LAYNE sound like.
