La Grande Formation biography
LA GRANDE FORMATION were a short-lived Belgian chamber rock project in early 1990s, around a singer / multi-instrumentalist David LINX, known as a son of Gistelinck Elias (a composer and trumpet player, producer in the Belgian TV station) and renowned in the duo with the pianist and composer Diederik Wissels. They were formed by eleven talented players from new jazz and contemporary Belgian music - especially a guitarist Pierre Van DORMAEL, playing with David in The James Baldwin Project in 1988.
The members were David LINX, a renowned Opera singer / interpreter of 'Schoenberg and Scelsi' Marianne POUSSEUR, a jazz saxophonist Fabrizio CASSOL, a jazz trumpeter Marc FRANKINET, two jazz clarinet players Vincent JACQUEMIN and Antoine PRAWERMAN, a jazz tuba & trombone player Michel MASSOT, a bassist Michel MARISSIAUX, a jazz drummer Michel DEBRULLE, and a guitarist Pierre Van DORMAEL.
LA GRANDE FORMATION have released two albums so far - "Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town" (1991) and "Galilée" (1994).
