Rubicon biography
RUBICON is a long distance recording project composed of three core musicians and a few guests. The core is Shondra PAULSON, vocals, Roberto MARTINELLI, drums, lyrics and arrangements, and Brandon STRADER, guitars, bass, and keyboards.

RUBICON rose out of he ashes of RVBIKON (www.myspace.com/rvbikon), a progressive/melodic metal band from San Francisco that recorded a couple demos from 2005-2006. That incarnation of what is now RUBICON never found a singer and broke up in early 2007. The band was originally formed in 2004, and Roberto is the sole remaining member from that time. The ideals for the project were rekindled in late 2007 originally under the moniker Blazar, with the intention of creating ambient, space-themed power metal. However, the duo of Brandon and Roberto grew tired of that theme, and decided to create melodic metal with a wider scope, and changed the name to RUBICON.

RUBICON's 2008 debut album, The Die Is Cast, also features guest spots by Max Doyle (also of GRAYCEON and WALKEN) on guitar, Jack SHIRLEY (of COMADRE) on guitar, and Belinda CHANG on piano.
