Ivor Axeglovitch (the name of the band, not an individual) hails from Denmark. Their music is clearly informed by their musical exposure in the '70s to Ralph Records and Captain Beefheart quirkiness. They released only two LPs, the latter of which, Head's Off! of 1983, is considered by most to far outstrip their debut, Montarsi la Testa. Nonetheless, neither lp is anything to sneeze at, as it were, regarding that indefinable sonic-creative madness which typifies such warped and vital productions. Montarsi has a rawness and spontaneity which this writer finds more genuine, uniquely inspired and palpably vital than the tighter, (slightly more sober) Head's Off!.
