Kwadrat biography

KWADRAT (meaning The Square) are from Katowice, Poland. They remained an obscurity to this day - they're not very well known band even within Poland's borders.

They were formed in late 70's with Teodor Dandysz, the keyboardist, being the mastermind of the band (other notable members: Jacek Gazda, Michał Giercuszkiewicz, Ryszard Węgrzyn and Adam Otrębała). The band received a certain success, they were performing on various festivals, and were highly praised both by critics and the audience. Unfortunately, on their path to stardom the whole story went down, probably because of major change in musical taste and fashion in early 80's. They managed to release only one single. However, they recorded enough material for an album, but 'Polowanie na lesniczego' will see the light of the day after more than a quarter of a century.

Kwadrat's style was heavily rooted in jazz-rock-fusion, with some symphonic overtones, blues, even traces of disco music. They would appeal to anyone who loves jazz fusion, but also to a wider prog rock audience.
