WINTERSTRAIN is a Norwegian ( Tromsø based) melodic power/ progressive metal act formed in 1988. It took fourteen years before the band released their debut full-length album "Return To The Mirror (2006)" but only two years after that release they recorded and released their second album "Shifting Sands (2008)".

The band consists of G.H. Fredheim on Vocals, A. Øvre on Guitars, Karl G. Birkely on Keyboards, L.R. Kvaal on Bass and R.E. Nyland on Drums.

WINTERSTRAIN´s inclusion in the Prog Archives database was approved by the Progressive Metal Team.
