Ram-Zet biography
RAM-ZET is an avante-garde/black-progressive metal formed in Hamar, Norway, in 1998.

RAM-ZET begun as a one-man project back in 1998. Henning Ramseth, who would be calling himself Zet, was its mastermind, guitarist and vocalist. For the project, Zet got the services of "Kuth" in the drums and "Solem" in bass, thus forming a full band.

Three additional musicians joined ranks: Miriam Elisabeth "Sfinx" Renvåg, in vocals, Ingvild "Sareeta" Johannesen in the violin, and Magnus Østvang in the keyboards. With this new line-ip, RAM-ZET released their first album, "Pure Therapy", in 2000, to good reviews in the metal world.

The band continued touring, writing and creating new material and released their sophomore effort, "Escape", in 2002, which received even better comments from the metal press and community. This didn't persuade Solem, founding member of the group, to leave it after the release of the record.

RAM-ZET recorded a third album, "Intra", in 2005. Therein the bass guitar was played by Jon Daniel, who left the group aftwerwards. The band's third bass-player, Lars, is currently working with the outfit on the release of new studio material.

RAM-ZET plays a very unique brand of extreme metal, with influences ranging from black metal to industrial metal, with progressive structures of epic proportions and non-traditional instruments like the violin. Zet has called the style of his band "schizo-metal". The music is filled with odd time signatures and unique harmonies, hence the "avante-garde metal" description.

The band's lyrics "are strongly linked to a schizophrenia theme... Forming a story which runs through all three albums, they feature two main characters: a schizophrenic patient in a dubious mental institution (sung by Zet), and a nurse trying to help him evade (sung by Sfinx)."
