Ongo biography
ONGO is a progressive rock/metal band from Puerto Rico formed in 1999. Around this time the band went through a few changes in their lineup. In 2001 they released their debut album entitled "Aquí No Pasa Nada" and a video to the song El Día Del Desertor was made to help promote the album. The video was well received and even gained a nomination as best independent video by the internet music page Just Plain Folks, and the song made the Top 20 list of a College Spanish Radio in Rhode Island. In 2002 the band played at the Anfiteatro Tito Puente as opening act for the nu metal band Puya. Following these events the band traveled to Miami to play at the SummerSlam Festival in which they shared the stage along side with Tereso, Ohms, Junkie Rush, Señor Frogs, Churchill's and Tobacco's Road, with a next stop at New York and finally return to Puerto Rico to start working on their next album. In 2004 the band finally released their second full length entitled "Negra". By September of the same year the band started their Negra Tour in support of their release in which they brought along Orlando's Band and Junkie Rush. After a few years of the release of Negra the album has been getting reviews from various fanzines and magazines around the world including Bass Guitar Magazine (November 2006) and Progression Magazine. The band is currently working on their third release set to be released in 2008.

The band cites Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Queen, Tool and King Crimson, Pink Floyd and many other progressive rock acts as influence. The current lineup consists of Jerry (vocals), Ruly (bass), Gaby (guitar), Abner (keyboard) and Jose (drums).
