IZ biography
IZ is a Colorado power-prog trio led by guitarist Michael SERVIOLO. Bassist Tom SUBLET and drummer David KERMAN constitute the band on their third offering 'E M' [Infinite 7, RER USA], though the line-up has changed several times and the band appears to have been around since about 2000, releasing a self-titled debut and a follow up titled simply '.'

'E M' is a severely heavy session full of relatively short but energy-packed pieces that owes something to Red era KING CRIMSON and even SABBATH but retains a dirtier sound and more irreverent attitude. It's a pounder, this one, but behind the clatter is plenty of skill and timing.

Good noise-prog featuring experimental touches without ever becoming sloppy or uninteresting.
