Jake Tobin biography
Jacob Lee Tobin is an American multi-disciplinary artist currently based out of New York City. Mainly known as a painter and author of projects and exhibitions around the United States, he has additional experience in the realms of music, animation, bookmaking, software and electronics, all from the self-proclaimed philosophy of "unprofessionalism" and outsider art.

As a self-taught and multi-instrumentalist musician, Tobin first began publishing albums under the moniker Fruit Flesh in 2011, before proceeding to use his real name on all his subsequent solo albums since 2013. His music has been described as experimental pop, zolo and avant-prog, but is hard to pin down stylistically, moving anywhere between atonal electronic jazz études and lo-fi Beefheart-esque broken jangle pop shuffles with an Elephant 6 flavour.

Tobin is also the founder of Truly Bald Records, a Georgia-based label used to distribute material from Tobin and likeminded associates, and has been a member of indie pop/rock bands Aircraft and Surface To Air Missive as well as the more experimentally minded collectives Grendel's Mother and The Lakewood Group.
