Body Meπa biography
Body Meta (stylized as Body Meπa) is an American rock band from New York City founded in 2020 by drummer Greg Fox (from avant/brutal prog and metal bands such as Zs, Ex Eye and Liturgy), bassist Melvin Gibbs (from jazz funk and fusion units such as Defunkt and Power Tools) and guitarists Grey McMurray (from experimental rock group Jerseyband) and Sasha Frere-Jones (from post-rock/dub collective Ui). Taking inspiration from the Ornette Coleman & Prime Time album from which they already took their name, every track played by these four musicians from the same geographical but very different musical backgrounds navigates the territory of its established theme to its utmost through melodic improvisation, spontaneous rhythmic interplay and rich textures that vary in density and style and are certain to pique the interests of fans of off-the-beaten-path math rock and post-rock.

Body Meta's debut "The Work Is Slow" was originally self-released in 2020 before being picked up and re-released a year later on CD and cassette by Hausu Mountain Records, which also went on to publish the band's 2024 sophomore album "Prayer In Dub".
