Glass Beach biography
Glass Beach are an independent rock band formed in Los Angeles (currently based in Seattle) whose music style is a blend of Emo, Math Rock, Neo Psych and Progressive Rock. J McClendon (vocals/guitar) formally made music under the name Casio Dad but wanted to expand into a full live band, they would move into an apartment in Los Angeles with bassist Jonas Newhouse and drummer William White, who had discovered Casio Dad on their college radio station and connected with J online. They'd play shows in LA and make demos in their apartment with equipment borrowed from the warehouse where Jonas and William worked.

"The First Glass Beach Album" would be released independently to little fanfare outside of their family, friends, and fans of the trio's previous projects, However they slowly gained a cult following and even gained enough traction to get signed to a record label and the band did a tour in 2020, unfortunately the band had to somewhat pause due to the Covid 19 pandemic lockdowns, so the band wasn't able to practice at this time, they tried many different experiments pieced together over Zoom calls and Discord. However J would make plans for a second album, developing a brief obsession with the works of Carl Jung and studying their favorite experimental music, the band was on track to making their sophomore album.

J's partner Daxe (the band's primary visual artist who had painted most of their album and single art) moved into a house together. Now able to have in person band practices with less covid risk, they began working on their new material in earnest, with a new level of dexterity on their instruments from constant solo practice in isolation. Songs would be jammed out and eventually reworked into songs for the album and in January of 2024 the album would be released after months of teasing and cryptic promotion through social media.

Plastic Death garnered much more praise and attention from fans and music outlets such as Pitchfork and Rate Your Music, and as of writing this the band is currently working on their third LP.
