Von Himmel biography
Like a lost early-1970s krautrock ensemble beamed into the present day, Von Himmel were in fact a United States-based trio consisting of Mendocino's Rafi Bookstaber and Paul Grimes along with prolific noise artist Greg Gorlen, active approximately from 2007 to 2013. Von Himmel's tripped-out, low-fi aesthetic has been described as Ash Ra Tempel, German Oak and the first two Cluster albums mixed with ESP-era Sun Ra, similar to the likes of No-Neck Blues Band, Expo '70, Kosmose and Book of Shadows.

Distributed via Sloow Tapes and Gorlen's own Donkey Disk label, the trio had five releases to their name, issued on CDR, cassette and vinyl in mostly limited editions.
