Rachel's biography
Founded in Baltimore (US) in 1991, Rachel's was an ensemble of 6 fixed members plus a quite huge number of guest musicians. Their characteristic mixture of classical like orchestral compositions and post-rock moments makes it difficult to classify into a specific genre, a sort of chamber post-rock.
The lineup is made of the violist and celloist Christian FREDERICKSON, the drummer and vibraphonist Edward GRIMES, the pianist and organist Rachel GRIMES, the multi-instrumentist Greg KING, the celloist Eve MILLER and the bassist and guitarist Jason NOBLE.
It's not clear whether the band name comes from Rachel Grimes.

The last band release is a single track published in 2013, one year after the guitarist Jason NOBLE passed away. At that point the band was just a quartet as also Edward GRIMES wasn't in the lineup. Edward GRIMES passed away in 2017.

Various band's tracks have been inserted in several movie soundtracks but they have never done a full OST.

The band has mentioned Michael Nyman, Arvo Pärt, Bill Frisell, John Zorn, Tortoise, Don Caballero and Talk Talk as influences.
