Lunophone biography
Lunophone is a musical project resulting from a collaboration between Dario D'Alessandro (Homunculus Res) and James Strain (Rascal Reporters). The pair met in 2018 when collaborating on new Organ pieces by fellow Rascal Reporters member Steve Kretzmer, which would eventually culminate in Rascal Reporters' 2023 album The Strainge Case of Steve.

The two kept in touch due to a shared love of musical innovation and Strain's interest in the Canterbury Scene, and after several contributions to each other's band projects (including D'Alessandro providing cover art for several Rascal Reporters releases, and Strain contributing to tracks on two Homunculus Res albums), the duo decided to produce an album together.

Each member composed 6 tracks for the album, and recorded and mixed the project remotely from their homes in Italy and Ireland respectively. The result is an unusual, adventurous and mercurial fusion of styles, largely based in Jazz-Rock with heavy influences from the Canterbury Scene and a distinctive flavour of the complex Avant-Prog associated with Strain's band, of which he is now a full-time member.
