Monika Roscher Bigband biography
Founded in 2011 in Munich by Nuremberg composer, conductor, guitarist and singer Monika Roscher, the Monika Roscher Bigband is a German collective of 18 musicians which tries to stretch the stylistic conventions of the brass-centered big band format to their limit. While recognizable roots in traditional jazz can still be heard in Roscher's music, the band plays an eclectic mixture of jazz, rock, avant-pop, math rock and trip-hop that defies being pinned down to any one genre. Each of the band's three albums, the last of which was released on Roscher's own Zenna Records label, has been released to acclaim from fans and critics alike: each have been an expansion on their previous sound, getting only more grand and symphonic, and are a must for any prog fan looking for a modern twist on progressive rock.
