Nautilus biography
Nautilis was a British progressive rock band formed in 2003 by the songwriting duo Andy Challinor (guitar) and Paul Blewitt (keyboards), joined by bassist Rob Tyson and drummer Darryl Finch. Despite the band's origins in Canterbury, their musical style did not bear much resemblance to that city's eponymous prog scene, being instead commonly compared with King Crimson and Porcupine Tree, and described as a powerful guitar and organ-driven heavy prog sound with psychedelic and symphonic influences. Nautilus's debut album What Colours The Sky In Your World was recorded and released on Cyclops Records in 2004 and was all-instrumental whereas its followup Fathom, released five years later, featured guest vocals by Jamaican theatre singer Peter Straker. In 2013, the band switched to Talking Elephant Records and announced on their Soundcloud that they were writing material for a third album, but as of 2024 this has not yet materialized.
