Ex Ox biography
Ex Ox is the solo brainchild of Canadian musician Andrew Dickson (of Soft Canyon, Tricky Woo, and Mongrels fame). Wielding styles as diverse as drone, ambient, krautrock, psychedelia, and more, Dickson has drawn from his vast pool of influences to craft his 2023 solo debut Nervous Complaint.

Recorded in Dickson's own home studio, Nervous Complaint is the true definition of a DIY project. All instruments were performed and recorded by Dickson himself, as he utilized everything from guitars to synths to theremin to percussion; the result is a highly experimental electronic record that merges the organic with the industrial. Thematically, the record deals with the existential questions facing Dickson after a near-death experience he had; as such, the album acts as a soundtrack to mortality and what lies beyond. The production was handled by both Dickson and Amy Torok.

For those who are into progressive electronic music, specifically the kosmische/krautrock strain of the genre, Ex Ox's meditative experiments come highly recommended.
