Frédéric D. Oberland biography
Frédéric D. Oberland is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and photographer, born in Paris in 1978. After following Political Studies at the Sorbonne University and Cinema at La Fémis film school he dedicated himself to music, contributing to many soundtracks for film works and installations from 2003 on. Often working in collaboration with other musicians and artists he is founding member of Farewell Poetry, Le réveil des tropiques and Oiseaux-Tempête.
For his solo work (four albums up till now) he is moving between electronic and post-rock, experimental, industrial ambient, avant-garde, drone and noise, with occasional touches of contemporary music and free jazz, creating as such very rich cinematic soundscapes. He works from his Magnum Diva Studio in Paris and has extensively performed live on many European stages, solo or with one of his groups. He founded the label Nahal Recordings with Paul Régimbeau (aka Mondkopf).
