Bathyscaphe biography
Bathyscaphe were a French post-rock trio from Paris, founded in 1998 by Frédéric Charlot (guitar/sequencer), Cyril Moyer (drums) and Olivier Charlot (bass/banjo). Initially commissioned to score films, Bathyscaphe's original instrumental music veers between cinematic abstraction and hypnotic minimalist rhythms, and received comparisons to Tortoise, Set Fire to Flames, Bästard, Ulan Bator, Pluramon and even Angelo Badalamenti.

The band released two albums - 2001's Road Movie and 2004's -11034m - before dissolving with Moyer's departure in 2006, with the Charlot brothers forming Maninkari later that year.
