Eidola biography
EIDOLA started out as an ambient, post-hardcore band from Salt Lake City, UT with the quartet of Andrew WELLS (vocals, guitar), Matthew DOMMER (vocals, guitar), James JOHNSON (bass) and Matthew HANSEN (drums). They quickly became a staple of the local hardcore punk scene with an impressive online and cult following because of their combination of math rock, metalcore, post-hardcore and ambient music, but especially from their eccentric live shows. They released their debut studio album "The Great Glass Elephant" in December of 2012.

In 2013, they added Brandon BASCOM as lead guitarist to allow WELLS to devote his concentration on lead vocals during concerts and then toured with I, OMEGA in 2014. EIDOLA released their 2nd album "Degeneraterra" in May of 2015 and was the first band to release an album on Will SWAN's (DANCE GAVIN DANCE) independent label "Blue Swan Records" and then headlined their own tour in 2015. They also continued to open for bands like DANCE GAVIN DANCE, CHON and HAIL THE SUN. Their 3rd album "To Speak, To Listen" was released in 2017. Later that year, Brandon BASCOM left the band and was replaced by Sergio MEDINA (STOLAS, SLANVAR). The band was to release their 4th album "The Architect" in 2020, but because of the pandemic, it was delayed and finally released in September of 2021.

EIDOLA plays an interesting mix of post-hardcore, experimental and progressive post metal and metalcore. Their music should appeal to fans of RUSSIAN CIRCLES, THE DEAR HUNTER, DANCE GAVIN DANCE, ROYAL CODA, HAIL THE SUN, BODY THIEF and ICARUS THE OWL.
