Piano Conclave biography
Piano Conclave was originally known for the ensemble's Swiss pianist founder as George Gruntz Piano Conclave on their debut album, 2001 Keys in 1974. When the second and final album, Palias Anthology was released in 1975, they would be just Piano Conclave, though the title was followed by "Directed by George Gruntz". What Gruntz put together was a European all-star band of 8 diverse keyboard players from Poland, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, Sweden and France, also known as the "Keyboard Philharsonic" Coop of leading European jazz pianists. The line-up includes Wolfgang Dauner, Gordon Beck, Rolf Donner, Martial Solal, Joachim Kühn, George Gruntz, and Jasper van't Hof. Palais Anthology included a U.S. based rhythm section consisting of John Lee on bass and Alphonse Mouzon on percussion.
