Kay HOFFMAN is a Swiss musician known for the album Floret Silva recorded in 1977-78 in Rome and released under her name in 1985 by Belle Antique.

The group of artists creating this work included: Kay HOFFMAN (composer, clavinet, piano, vocals), Simo VALZANIA (composer, arrangements, guitar, bouzouki, organ, violin, voice, effects, toy piano, glockenspiel, bass, Jew's harp, choir, harpsichord, flute, vocal), Sandro RAIMONDI (drums, percussion, choir), Michele LOSAPPIO (composer, piano, trombone, clavinet, recorder, vocal, electric piano), jazz bassist Nicola VERNUCCIO (double bass, bowed bass), Renato CORDOVANI (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet), Sandro MORINI (alto saxophone), Carlo BARDI (bassoon), Tolmini MARIANINI (trumpet), Gianni SALAORNI (electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and musicians known from the Italian PIERROT LUNAIRE: Gaio CHIOCCHIO (electric guitar) and Jacqueline DERBY (vocal, voice, choir).

The Floret Silva is an opus inspired by the medieval song collection Carmina Burana. The album contains many short, richly arranged pieces that form a smoothly unfolding whole with Latin lyrics. Music interweaves neo-medieval sounds, folk melodies with touches of delicate prog rock sensibility and jazz/psychedelic/minimalistic structures. Rich instrumentation makes the sound eclectic and gives the impression of past times. Due to the Medieval and Renaissance inspirations the music also brings to mind bands like GRYPHON, associated PIERROT LUNAIRE and DEAD CAN DANCE.

Floret Silva can be recommended to fans of ambitious folk/neo-medieval music and prog enthusiasts who are looking for something unfamiliar and with an interestingly laid out accents. Since the initial release the album was reissued on CD in 2006 on Robot Records and on LP in 2016 by Guerssen Records on Bandcamp.
