The Boston Tapes are the first official recordings Nektar made. Shortly afterwards, the band was contracted by Bellaphon records, who bought the recordings/rights and let Nektar record Journey To The Centre Of The Eye in 1971. These recordings were remastered by the band in 2006 for a release on their Collectors Corner series, a sort of fanclub subscription series. Although it was meant to be download-only, some CDs were printed.

Tracks 1 - 9 were recorded on June 22nd, 1970.
Tracks 10 and 11 were recorded between 2004 - 2005.

Track 8 was written by Gary Geld and Peter Udell.
