3 stars First review of this, yo!

If you like Triumph, then this DVD is for you. I say that only becuase Triumph is hammered on this site, and I don't really know why. Sure they aren't prog, but they are prog-related. Most of their songs are radio friendly and such but there are quite a few prog gems that easily get overlooked by reviewers of this band.

Onto this DVD now, I must admit that it's a little sad that they only got to play 8 songs on stage for this event. The song choice was decent, but there is so much more that they could've added to make the show a lot better. Five of the eight tracks are great, and the other three are ok but not really my style (and probably not the style of anyone on this website either for that matter). Rik Emmett is a guitar-playing lyric-singing monster. His extended guitar solo in Rock and Roll Machine is phenominal. One of the greatest ever in my opinion not only because it is great to listen to, but also because he is entertaining to watch. He also sings his heart out in all the songs, especially "Fight the Good Fight". Gil does some good drumming, but I don't really care for his voice and he can be over- dramatic sometimes. Mike doesn't really do anything special, he is a C- bass player at best. His keyboard intro to "Fight the Good Fight" is nice however.

The special features on the DVD are sort of interesting, including a music video of "Follow Your Heart" along with a couple other clips of behind the scenes action and stuff. The film and sound quality are great, and overall the production is quite good. If you don't like Triumph though, there is no real reason to get this. Fans of the band will love it I know that for a fact. I give this a 3-Star rating simply because it is an excellent piece of work, but people who aren't already fans will probably not like it so a 4 and a 2 equal a 3 in my mind.
