Ne plus ultra from 2021 is the debut album by Terra Odium, a band from Norway. The band was formed by vocalist and guitarist Øyvind Haegeland from technical prog metal band Spiral Architect and Bollie Fredriksen from norwegian 90's prog metal Manitou. Also they have helping hand from Spiral Architect, Borknagar drummer Asgeir Mickelson and on bass the multi talented master Steve di Giorgio ex Death, Testament and lots more and on keyboards and orchestrations Kjetil Nordhus from Dragonforce, Angra, etc. Well this combo done a fantastic job here, this type of prog metal I can hear all day, is technical is melodic, lots of hooks, twists, tempo changes and above all the vocal parts are killer. The pieces are long enough around 7 min, one piece has 11 min, enough space to elaborated passages and all ingredients are to be found here for a solid prog metal album. I can say this is old school prog metal like it was done in the '90s,the way I like it. All pieces are excellent with a plus on first two Crawling and The Road Not Taken.
Easy recommendation, one of the better prog metal albums and bands in last years, 4 stars for sure.
