NEVER KNOWING WHY

In these strange times we all need some positive music. Yesterdays are back with new music, this time a 6 minutes single. Imagine GENESIS' That's All with RICK WAKEMAN on moog and mellotron, add some female vocals and YES-like backing vocals and you'll land on this tune.

Very upbeat starting, nice build-up in instrumentation. The Phil Collins era GENESIS comparison isn't just a coincidence. Beside the That's All reference I could spot a nice tribute to Follow You Follow Me (the delay guitar sound in the chorus is definitely a tribute to this song).

The verse and the chorus is in 4/4, the bridge is in 6/8, the big moog solo is in 11/8 and with all these changes and beautiful relaxed flute interludes the song still remains a "song".

I need to mention the sound and style of the bass guitar playing. It gets the border between Genesis and Yes influences even more blurry, because it sounds just like CHRIS SQUIRE. So after this symphonic prog moment the chorus returns and the song ends in a very Beach Boys-ish (Pet Sounds) vocal extravaganza.

Beside the "usual" trio of Yesterdays, the song features Ulf Jacobs (ARGOS, YACOBS) on drums and knowing his roots in GENESIS-like music, he is a perfect fit for this song. Lovely collab!

Again, I am a huge fan of Stéphanie Semeniuc's powerful and clear voice, one of the best in this genre!

So, in these strange times we all need some positive music. We all need this song in our prog collection.
