4 stars 3.75 stars actually. A very good proto prog album that should be more known in this site. Let's review track by track: 01 Shining (9/10) - a piece that could have been on In the court of Crimson King or In the wake of Poseidon, combining those lovely symphonic and psychedelic styles. The best song in the album. 02 Boxes (8/10) - A sort of early Canterbury similar to Supersister mixed with classic rock. 03 The grand illusion (6/10) - to me it sounds like a theme from a Broadway musical, and the song I like the least. 04 Long hard journey (8/10) - this tune returns to the symphonic style with psychedelic arrangements, it reminds me of The moody blues. 05 Mirror (7.5/10) - a very good fusion track, combining several styles, ranging from classic jazz, to symphonic and psychedelia. 06 Pieces-together-pieces (8/10) - a great psychedelic track that could be described as a typical Jefferson Airplane song with an extended improvisation in the middle where the main instruments take turns. Check the outstanding keyboard solo at the end!

Recommended to all fans of proto prog and early prog.
