WRONG TURNS AND DEAD ENDS

Another promising, productive project hailing from Switzerland. I'm happy to come across such a powerful and sensitive creation in the end of this year. A rare quintet with twin tenor saxophonists MONOGLOT have released their second full-length album in October 2017, via that we RIO / avantgarde-progressive fans should feel something like propaganda in a sense. Their melodic lines and rhythmic basis are extremely complicated for the audience of course, but mysteriously their play is crazy unified and harmonized ... maybe because of their tremendous coordination itself, I'm sure. On the contrary, pretty melodious or gently catchy phrases can be heard sometime, somewhere. Honest to say (at least for me?) through the last track 'Suna Rosa' slight essence of Chanson can be touched. They say they are actually a multi-national (Swiss / German / Icelandic) combo, and this multi-nationality would have given them such a fantastic diversity I suppose. Two tenor saxophone sometimes shout respectively, sometimes chat together, and finally get merged with each other convolutedly. I can hear kinda obvious innovative footprint via this album. Don't miss it.
