The ninth Mutiny in Jonestown studio album is an interesting collection of songs that range from sample based fun pieces like, 'James of the Jungle' (using the embarrassingly overused James Brown grunts and shouts every 90's sampler came with), 'The Raga of Rodney Toady' (which sets to music Robert Fripp's spoken tale from 'The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp'), and a cover of 'War Pigs' (which is the bands own take on the Black Sabbath song with a sample of Ozzy singing the actual vocals). Other covers include the Doors, 'People Are Strange' and a slowed down, swirling guitar infused version of my favorite Dave Gilmour Pink Floyd song, 'Fat Old Sun'.

Because of the copyright issues of cover tunes and samples, this album is available on BandCamp but with only the 9 original songs. Three of these appear on the compilation, 'Anthology II 1993 - 2002' available on BandCamp. Those songs are, 'The Gathering', 'La Femme' (featuring fun lyrics that pair unlikely trio's of famous (or is that, infamous) women such as, 'Locked in a room with Marie Antoinette, Diana Ross and Indira Ghandi'as the moon escaped to the West and dared the sky try to come and find me'), and the bands tribute to the X Files, 'Mulder' (with lyrics like, 'You only hope the CIA won't kill you as you leak out Project Blue'Help me out Spooky!', you get the idea.

The remaining original songs range from experimental ("Ball Bearing Salesman", "Polar Eyes") to the almost goth-like dark feel (especially lyrically) of "...and Hope to Die", to the balance of heavy guitar and mellotron which is the foundation of, "Elisabeta", in my opinion one of the best Mutiny in Jonestown songs not to be included on one of the compilation albums. While 5 of the albums 14 tracks are unavailable on BandCamp due to copyright considerations, the remaining original pieces are strong enough on their own to warrant a 3 star rating.
