2 stars BUCKETHEAD - PIKE 85 - WALK IN LOSET 44th album out of 60 in 2014 and 114th overall All sounds brought to you by Buckethead and all instrumental This has 3 tracks that clock in at 29:16 LOSET is a thing in Pakistani households where people can be hidden and can possible disappear into

"Glass Eye" (8:53) starts out with a nice mid paced guitar lick and a rock bass and drums. It proceeds into a jittery guitar riff oriented alternative rock track. After a truly wild unhinged PIKE, this one is quite normal and stays in alternative rock mode and ratchets up the speed, tension and dynamics until it gets up to metal speed. The melody is recurring and has structured parts that resemble verse / chorus type of alternations but the emphasis is placed more on the improvisations of the chord progressions. It sticks to the program and alternates faster and slower passages but is a fairly stable and enjoyable track

"Long To Wave" (10:14) follows suit with similar speed, form and guitar tone. It's semi-grungy with an emphasis on the chord progressions. Sounds a little like early Van Halen only not super fast but rather mid tempo. And just like a Van Halen track follows the predictable path of changing chords around to have that lead up to a bridge between another variation of the chord changes that alternate between the heavier and mellower parts. Goes on too long for its own good

"Walk In Loset" (10:09) stays with the program and starts out with a new guitar riff oriented track that hovers somewhere between hard rock and alternative metal. It continues the simple chord progression and alternates between stylistic deliveries. Sometimes staccato chords, sometimes bluesy guitar riffs, sometimes jangly arpeggios but the melody stays the same as with the rest of the tracks on this one. Just like the last track, this one is okayish but is rather bland and far outstays its welcome. It's one of those tracks that i keep waiting to get over and then doesn't. Not enough variation for a track of this length

All i can say is that "normal" music like this needs a vocalist. This isn't complex or wild enough to really be interesting as instrumental music. It sounds like an incomplete studio recording that is sometimes released as a bonus track. Needs more. Nothing bad just nothing too overly exciting either
