4 stars Dutch Uncles is on of those modern indierock groups that have progressive rock tendencies.

The band cited Kate Bush, XTC and Talking Heads as influences. And that's exactly what you get, especially because singer Duncan Wallis has an adrogynous voice, sometimes reminiscent of Kate Bush but also similar to Brian Ferry and even a Bowiesque vocal approach.

Dutch Uncles as a band create weird, atypical pop/rock music, where the songstructures and instrument use can also remind the listener to Gentle Giant. The band has many influences aswell form eighties new wave like Talking Heads and The Fixx.

Although the songs have difficult rhythms and the musicians are very skillfull, the songs are very catchy, and enjoyable. To me, this band is the perfect example how to be extremely talented and skillfull and still create perfect popmusic. On top of that the production is top notch.

Dutch Uncles is a band that should be more adored by musicfans, on the pop- and prog side of music. I can highly recommend this album to anyone that likes Tears for Fears, Talking Heads, Fixx, Bowie, Kate Bush, Roxy Music and 80's King Crimson.
