SPECTRAL MORNINGSSteve HackettEclectic Prog |
From Progarchives.com, the ultimate progressive rock music website
This release is a cover version of the title track from Steve Hackett's 'Spectral Mornings' album of 1979. It is
arranged by Robert Reed (recent albums 'Sanctuary', 'Sanctuary II'), and specially written lyrics are
beautifully sung in a duet by David Longdon (Big Big Train) and Christina Booth (of Reed's band Magenta).
Actually there is a 'supergroup' list of musicians, including the Big Big Train drummer Nick D'Virgilio and
Steven Wilson's bassist Nick Beggs. Plus of course the man himself plays a lovely guitar section. It is quite
lovely, and very commercial - but we can forgive this as the proceeds go to a Parkinson's Disease charity.
Verdict: new life for an old classic.
