4 stars The New Book of Genesis This is a different approach to prog: children tales and let me tell you this is not bad idea if you play your musical cards right.

Tiger Moth Tales has studied the classics, not Aesop or Grimm Brothers but Genesis and you can tell in the second song Story Tellers that could be easily in Wind and Wuthering and even on the third one Beauty Sleeps where Anthony Phillips is present in the spirit with his classical guitar.

So, if you enjoy Genesis or just plain good prog music give this CD a spin, you will like It I am sure.

5 stars The Prog Messiah cometh! I knew nothing of Peter Jones till I heard, by accident, "Cocoon" a couple of weeks ago. Then I realised he had made this album before his first was even dry. I am certain that he has no idea just how incredible he is. If I was looking for an a truly great singer, lyricist, keyboard player or guitarist, I would want this guy. Yes, he is all of those things. I love "Prog", which us music lovers so fondly call what we all tend to listen to. I don't really like or buy or listen to almost any of the prog that turns up year after year. Mostly because it is all so predictable, planned and a bit boring, even though technically superb. This album is hilarious, moving, powerful and just exactly how I remember the really great music always was. Want a reference? Genesis(up till the end of Hackett), Spock's Beard(Till end of Morse). Add a touch of Disney, Dream Theater and The Godfather and you're 50% there. Not heard anything that can touch this so far this year. Even Steven Wilson didn't match this! NOTE: This has a great sound. No hideous overcompression or limiting here. Average DR is 11.

4 stars Review # 49. Here's where Disney meets Prog! This short sentence could easily characterize the general style of this really beautiful album. But let's take it from the start: Tiger Moth Tales is the name of the personal project of Pete Jones. In case you never heard his name before, I should inform you that, Pete Jones is an extremely talented English songwriter/singer and multi-instrumentalist. Having lost his sight at a very early age, he dedicated his life to music. He plays a big variety of instruments, and in the case of Tiger Moth Tales he does everything by himself, without any other musician being involved. Story Tellers Part 1, is the second album of Tiger Moth Tales, and the one I like the most. The debut album 'Cocoon' was also very good, but I think that this one has something more to offer. According to my personal taste, of course. The album includes 7 songs and has a total running time of almost 42 minutes. It is available in CD and digital edition so far, and I'm only hoping that a vinyl edition will be available at some point. There is a main theme that goes on throughout the album, which as it seems is The Quest for Beauty, interrupted by other children's stories. The album opens with the excellent and melodic instrumental Beauty Falls, that gives to the listener a fist idea of what's going to follow. Beauty Falls is an easy going prog tune, including elements from bands and styles in such a way that it sounds familiar even from the fist listening. Story Tellers that comes next, is a beautiful ballad, which seems influenced by Genesis, including a major change in the middle of the song. After Story Tellers, the wonderful instrumental Beauty Sleeps follows. A gentle, sweet and melancholic tune, which is one my favorites. A Kids Tale is a brilliant song, that puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it. With its cartoon-ish music and characters, it's a definitely unique song. A Kids Tale is followed by The Quest for Beauty, and absolutely fantastic piece and my most favorite in the album. (Not to mention the really beautiful video-clip). Then comes the album's "epic", the almost 13-minute-long The Piper, which is maybe the only song I don't like so much. I don't know why, I never was able to "digest" it. It sounds a bit chaotic to my ears, without a clear structure, that's why maybe I don't like. Or, it requires some more attention, who knows? The album's last song is Beauty Awakens, another beautiful and happy tune, that closes the album in the best way possible! Story Tellers Part 1 is one of the most beautiful and well structured albums I listened to during the last 2 years, and it is really pity that I didn't listen to this album upon its release, because it could for sure occupy a spot in my 2015's Top-10 album's list. A really great piece of work, that you should definitely listen! Hats off to Pete Jones for that! I can't wait to listen to Part 2. (If it will be a part 2 of course) 4 stars without a second thought! Highly Recommended!

5 stars I confess, when I heard for the first time " Story Tellers " part 1 by TIGER MOTH TALES my expectations wasn't great.. because their previous album "Coccon" don't got my attention.... However this one at the end of first audition make me hear again and again.... Paraphrasing PA collaborator THE JESTER ( review (#1698098) posted Friday, March 3, 2017) where he says "Where Disney meets Prog!" ... a perfect sentence to define this album. Although you can find a strong GENESIS influence , starting by vocal timbre and interpretation, the use of some fables inspired themes, like in track 4 "A Kids Tale" and his acoustic-piano Boogie-woogie main theme (recalls the 20's decade sound) and track 6 "The Piper" an remake of " The Pied Piper" of Hamelin and his fantastic final theme of piper's revenge. I cannot say "Is a Genesis cheap copy " ... Far from this ! In spite this literature references , the album is plentiful of great instrumental passages , besides the two above mentioned moments, like the moog solo in track 2 "Story Tellers", the acoustic guitar/flute duet or the "Arabic" theme by guitar/keyboards just before electric-guitar solo. I consider this album one of best 2015 releases and I think which deserves a better classification than the 9 place in PA list of that year. My rate is 5 stars !!!
