MINDLESS TRUST

Ahmshere is a young talented prog rock band coming from Holland formed in 2012. This year they released their first album named Mindless trust. Well, I really like a lot this album from first to last note. The blend of symphonic arrangements combined with melodic neo prog lines, heavy prog parts in places makes from this debute a winner for sure. The album overall is varied , is well balanced and has plenty of memorable parts to be fully appreciated. Imagine something between melodic neo prog of early Marillion with hints towards swedish Galleon, some more edgy parts a la Rush and a lot of symphonic prog twists, guitars and keyboards have an important role in overall sound. Very nice are the instrumental sections, the duels between keyboards and guitars on some pieces is impressive like on Apollo & Daphne , on A dark soul or Counter attack, fantastic pieces that will please any prog rock fan, the rest are also solid. I like aswell the voice of Chris Henny, who done some guitars parts aswell, he has a voice that is fiting the music, maybe sometimes he sings very nasal, but is not a problem for me, his voice is good no matter others said. Definetly for me a solid, intresting captivating album, already one of the best of this year for sure. This young band needs exposure because they worth it, is not a ground breaking release, but is a fine well presented and performed progressive rock album. Top notch is the art work, album comes in a digipak format. 4stars great and I love it.

Dutch band AHMSHERE can trace their roots back to the end of 2006, although it wasn't until the start of 2012 that the band had a stable line-up. At that point they hit the recording studio to record old, new and reworked material for their debut album, "Mindless Trust", which was self-released by the band in January 2013. Since then the band almost broke up, but is a going concern again these days, now as a four man strong unit.

Ahmshere's debut album "Mindless Trust" is one of those productions that contains too much variety to easily fit within a detailed specified subgenre, but the music is undeniably progressive rock. They blend inspirations from the 70's and 80's into a nice and accessible stew, and if I should take a shot in terms of specific recommendations here I'd guess that fans of bands like Spock's Beard and Magic Pie should find this production to merit a closer check.
