5 stars Hawkwind's early albums are charming snapshots of the different sounds of the early Space Rock sound. This release features Hawkwind's earliest studio albums, Hawkwind, In Search of Space, Doremi Fasol Latido, and Hall of the Mountain Grill. These are complimented by a charming compilation album which covers a certain dimension of the sound of Hawkwind. The sound quality of each album is faithful to the original recordings despite the fact that the studio albums are remasters. Tthe cardboard sleeves are good quality, with high quality prints of the original artwork. And in true Hawkwind spirit, it comes at an affordable price!

I cannot recommend this release enough.

Peace!

4 stars This 5 CD Hawkwind set is a similar package to the editions released that includes a surprising amount of PROG ARTISTS including Dream Theater, Eloy, Jethro Tull, and now Hawkwind. The Hawkwind set has the first 5 albums and they are arguably among the best of the deluge of albums the band released. Here we have the great debut, and this is followed by a swag of masterpieces, 3 of which are included here, the awesome In Search of Space, Doremi Fasol Latido, and Hall of the Mountain Grill. Unfortunately instead of including the wonderful brilliant Warrior at the Edge of Time that followed, we end this set with a compilation of mediocrity, with only 6 songs Masters of the Universe.

I had this album once but when I found out it was just another compilation and i already had everything on it I dumped it to get a different album. It is a dumb choice to include it as there are as a result many double ups of songs such as Master Of The Universe, Brainstorm, though its an Edit, and Lost Johnny. The other songs are from Space Ritual, that is Sonic Attack, Orgone Accumulator, and it closes with It's So Easy (Live At Edmonton Sundown). Very disappointing, though I love Orgone Accumulator as it makes me feel greater...

So if you ignore this flaw this is still a terrific set to own, as the sleeves are cardboard like mini vinyl albums, and it does have some bonus tracks. It is a nice Hawkwind fix for the uninitiated and for the rest of us a cheap way of getting hold of new Hawkwind packaging and a cool looking box. 4 stars for all the brilliant songs at a cheap price is warranted.
