LES 50 PLUS BELLES CHANSONS

This is an incredibly priced close on 3 hour compilation of Ange circa 1972 Caricatures to 1992 Les Larmes,when the bothers Christian and Francis were both in the band. The cd's are loosely in chronological order so the listener can interpret the evolution of the 'classic' 70's progressive period,through the 80s what I would call the equivalent Invisible Touch period to the close of Ange mark 1 when Francis departs. The issue with the first cd is that there is not enough room for all the classic 70s tracks eg missing Exode and Nain de Stanislas,to name but two.the other cd's show how the band gradually changes direction a la Genesis- shorter,guitar/synth oriented songs,none the less entertaining.The reviews are not kind to the band in the 80's,but a selection of the best tracks are here. My favourite Ange track 'Vieux de la Montagne' is in a truncated form here- the live one from the Farewell tour is much better.

So beginners and the curious,a great place to start.Then buy the 4 Albums Originaux in a boxset + Guet Apens + The 2 Farewell Tour cd's and kick on from there.Those liking Trespass,Nursery Cryme Genesis will love Ange.Vocals are in French,but Christian Decamps is a master storyteller and the musicianship is first class- so please investigate!
