3 stars It is not a bad album, but warning - lead vocals are sung by Edwin Balogh. He's not a bad singer and he sings English without accent, but there is nothing special in his voice. The album sounds like Omega meets Bon Jovi, so I prefer Hungarian version (called "Trance And Dance") with distinctive voice of János Kóbor. I have no idea whether English lyrics correspond to original Hungarian texts. The song "Tower of Babel" is the English version of the hit "Babylon" from the album "Omega 13".

I can recommend "Transcendent" album to Omega fans only. If you unfamiliar with the band, better start with any of Omega classic albums, "Omega 2" - "Omega 9". Compilations like ''Titanium'', "Dream" or double live CD "Nepstadion 1999" are also good starting points.

4 stars The Balogh voice is indeed very different from that of Janos Kobor. The album is a compilation of most tracks on "TranceandDance" (1995) but the lyrics have almost no resemblance to the original Hungarian words. In fact, if I am to translate literally the titles of the original songs, here is what we should have:

1. Overture 2. Heavenly Chimes 3. The Dreamer 4. Every Teardrop is a Waste 5. Babylon 6. Purple Dawn 7. Letter--Poste Restante 8. Heavenly Love 9. The End of the Crossroad

The original lyrics have deeply religious symbolism (something, to which Omega strangely turned during the 1990s) and, in general, the Hungarian album sounds more cohesive and better arranged than its English equivalent.
