4 stars This was the first Kit Watkins solo album I owned. A salesman for an indy distributor thought I would like it. He was right. But then again, everyone knew I was a seventies prog fan.

The album is made entirely from synthesizers. But it is difficult to tell that from listening. Watkins does a superb job of imitating a wide array of instruments, both acoustic and electronic, as well as providing drums sounds from his keyboards. And while most of the songs are somewhat low key, there are plenty of prog elements. First the Happy The Man sound, even ten years after the last album, is still present. And secondly, Wakins revels in playing in compund time signatures throughout the album (which he documents in the liner notes.

While all the tracks are great, the most pleasing to me is Saraha Sonata, a somewhat hypnotic, Middle Easter flavored piece in 7/4.

Wonderful.
