PROG REVIEWER
2 stars Verdwaald ("lost" in Dutch) is a conceptual soundscape album based on someone who awakes and struggles to identify where he/she is, but can't come to any conclusion and is captured by the world of dreams. The main character ultimately discovers the dream temple where he/she may return home.

The concept sounds decent enough, but unfortunately the music is no improvement over the three albums immediately preceding Verdwaald except that this album isn't just one track that plays for over an hour; there are 4 tracks on this album, each nearly indistinguishable from each other. This album, in its entirety, is still the sound of a droning washing machine in space with added resonances and an emphasis on windy effects. Verdwaald isn't what I had hoped, which was a much more fitting atmosphere for such a concept. But, the ability to sketch out a concept shows growth in itself, and I hope for more conceptual soundscaping from Phrozenlight in the future.
