2 stars I must admit, I'm not much of a David Bowie fan, although he has enough songs that I like that I can appreciate his talents. And I always found it strange that he has a reputation as an innovator. It always seemed that he was rehashing earlier styles, a few years after they passed.

But anyway, this album is a "greatest hits" collection from his RCA years, at the height of his popularity. And I'm not surprised it's called "Fame and Fashion", the two things that seemed most important to Bowie. Since he was essentially a popular artist, there is relatively little prog in these selections. For the most part, what you get are his most famous songs, the ones that still pop up on classic rock and adult contemporary stations.

Of the songs on this album, I still don't mind listening to Space Oddity, Heroes (which features some guy named Fripp), and Ashes To Ashes. The rest I wouldn't mind if I never heard them again.
