4 stars Tamandua's Eternal Anteater of the Universe at first threw me off a bit. It is not so much a prog album as a free jazz experiment. Sometimes the songs sound composed but mostly they sound like jams that may heve been practiced a few times over but not so tight as to sound unimprovised. I like this kind of music a lot and the saxophone led jams are wonderful. The gutarist is angular and jagged instead of melodic and is excitingly different. The drummer sounds like a pro and keeps up and in time with lots of mayhem from the others (sometimes chaotic). I liked the whole album very much on these first two listens. I am looking forward to playing it again soon. I hope to hear more from Tamandua, I dont know what the anteater and comedic songtitles are about, maybe some inside joke. But the sound soul & vibe here is fantastic. Well done.
