4 stars Two weeks ago I watched new Quentin Tarantino film and was absolutely impressed by it's soundtrack. Top point - absolutely perfect mixed old David Bowie song "Cat People" - in cinema hall at good Dolby 5.1. sound system it sounded - fantastic!!!

Now about album ( yes, it includes this perfect song). It's one of lates Bowie compilation, and as it stated on the cover, the songs came from his neo-period, it is from 1980 till 1987. This Bowie period is often criticized from very different points of attack. In one I am agree - there are not too many prog-songs, even for Bowie, who in genuine isn't prog singer/musician.

But if you like Bowie, and if you are interested in that his period - it's golden album ! Yes, music there has strong pop-apeal, but from other hand, you can hear all Bowie genius in full there.

Many songs there came from "Scary Monsters" album or from all around ( I mean there are plenty of singles version). For me "Scary Monsters" is very strong Bowie's album, which is Bowie in transition from his "Berlin Trilogy " to pseudo-disco album "Let's Dance". So, this part is still classic Bowie ( if "clasic" and "Bowie" words could be put together). "Ashes To Ashes", "Fashion", "Scary Monsters " and Bertold Brecht's "Alabama Song"are all classics of period.

"Under Pressure" with Queen - well-known hit, in fact not as bad as simetimes is looking.

"Lets's Dance" is represented with all circle of songs. I have very warm feeling to this album, it's quite commercial sound and even disco rhythms didn't destroy Bowie's aura and genius singing on it. So - "Cat People" ( I started my review from that song), absolutely hypnotic "Chine Girl" ( for me this version is much more stronger, than Iggy Pop's original), "Modern Love " ( I don't like this song too much) and - "Let's Dance".

To be honest, I don't like Bowie's after "Let's Dance" next experimental period too much. I'm not speaking about "This Is Not America"with Pat Metheny Group, which is good song. Or even less about "Blue Jean", which is more pop-R'n'B. I am speaking about his "Thin Machine" time, over-electronical mish-mash.

But bothtogether, all this collection is real "The Best " from stated period. If you don't like - it's your right, if you like- you will be happy with this disc.

I must to say in addition, that this package includes DVD with songs from the same period.
